DeKalb County Treasurer Christine J. Johnson would like to remind taxpayers that the first installment of real estate taxes is due Friday, June 5, 2020. Taxes may be paid at most county banks, by mail, or on-line.
In order to pay taxes online, taxpayers should visit the DeKalb County website at www.dekalbcounty.org and click on the “Pay My Property Tax” link in red text. They should then search by parcel number, or name, or site address. They will find it helpful to have their tax bill at hand when making their payment online.
The Treasurer’s Office accepts online tax payments using Master Card, American Express, Discover Card or Visa credit or debit cards, or by E-check. Taxpayers can also pay using Master Card, American Express, Discover Card, or Visa credit or debit cards in person at the Treasurer’s office. Please note that the credit card service provider will charge a convenience fee for those wishing to pay their real estate taxes by credit card, debit card, or E-check.
If taxpayers mail their payment, the stub on the bottom of your tax bill should accompany their payment. Taxpayers should put their parcel number on their check to ensure proper credit.
Taxpayers may also pay at a local bank in their drive-thru, through the bank’s close of business on June 5, 2020.
In May, 2020, the DeKalb County Board passed an Ordinance to waive penalties on the first installment of property taxes for 2019 taxes (payable in 2020) that would otherwise accrue during the period of June 6, 2020, through September 5, 2020. This waiver is intended to assist those taxpayers who are, or will be facing financial challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The DeKalb County Property Tax Penalty Waiver Form is now available on the DeKalb County Government Website Homepage, dekalbcounty.org. Look for the box that says “Need More Time?”.
